Emergency Shelters

As SafeHaven moves forward as a new organization, many benefits arise for residential clients.  Confidentiality issues are a thing of the past as clients smoothly transfer between the two campuses.  Client information can be shared between counselors, case managers, and staff at both the Arlington and Fort Worth emergency shelters without breaking client-counselor confidentiality.  Victims of domestic violence now also have the option of which emergency shelter is best for them based on work location, day care facilities, and freedom of choice of services and locations.

SafeHaven’s Fort Worth and Arlington shelter facilities are able to comfortably accommodate up to 174 women and children on any given day. The shelters operate under the rule of “the shelter is never full”.  SafeHaven of Tarrant County applies this rule on a daily basis ensuring a victim is never turned away due to lack of space.

The shelters provide:

  • Living quarters

  • Meals/snacks

  • Clothing

  • Transportation

  • Referral to medical and dental care

  • Counseling

  • Support Groups

  • Children’s recreational and therapeutic activities (Activities specifically focus on developing non-violent relationships, social skills, problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.)

  • Case management

Transitional Living

When leaving a shelter, survivors need a safety net of services and support to establish and sustain self-sufficiency; otherwise, financial distress may force their return to the batterer. Assisting abused women and children to live independently and free from violence is the primary goal of SafeHaven.  Through services provided in our transitional housing programs, these families have a secure environment in which to obtain life skills, education, employment.

As domestic violence continues to plague our community, SafeHaven is continually seeking methods in which to assist the growing number of victims.  Services provided through our transitional program educate former victims; teaching skills which will help them lead independent lives free of domestic violence.
